Imperial Sencha Rose (Green Tea) Lemonade

Green Tea originates from the same plant as black tea – Camellia sinesis. The difference is in how the tea leaves are processed i.e. green tea is not oxidized fully and hence retains high amounts of polyphenols, the most active of which are catechins and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These powerful antioxidants help protect the body against free radicals, which are known to damage cells resulting in health ailments, ageing etc.

There are various ways to incorporate green tea into your everyday life – hot and iced!

Try our Imperial Sencha Rose Lemonade recipe below for a healthy and refreshing drink to keep you hydrated when temperatures are rising!

Ingredients:

½ cup water
1 teaspoon Imperial Sencha Rose blend (use 1.5 - 2 tsp for a stronger brew)
2 lemons squeezed (juice)
2 tablespoon of coconut sugar, honey or sweetener of your choice
½ cup cold water
Ice cubes 

Method:

Boil ½ cup water to around 70°C and add the Imperial Sencha Rose Blend allowing to steep for 3 minutes.
Turn off the heat and add coconut sugar or sweetener of your choice. (omit this step if you prefer not to use any sweetener)
Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and ½ cup cold water to the mixture and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Put the blend in the freezer for 5 minutes or fridge for 10-15 minutes.
Once cooled, pour into a glass filled with ice, garnish it with lemon and enjoy!

Note: You can also blend the mixture with ice to make it slushy!
